Flashback Friday

So I know it is Saturday, but our computer was down on Friday, so this post is coming late.
Here is a flashback to our flat roofed house before:

BEFORE

And flash forward to today:

AFTER

I'm also working on some curb appeal, these posts will come soon. Since this picture was taken we added some window boxes and dug a flower bad on the front curb.
Yeah for new roofs and husbands and fathers that can build them!

Kayak Trip

We took out the canoes and kayaks for a test run on Memorial Day. This means, it was just down the street from Grandma and Grandpa McKinnon's house in the Clinton pond. This is just a small pond down the road. It was a lot of fun.

My dad has been wanting to try a canoe or kayak out in this pond since they first made it a few years back. I was a little worried the smallness would make our outing less fun, but it really was just right. We all got to practice paddling and rowing without the fear of the big river - and the closeness of home if we fell in.

Here are a lot of pics.

Below, Jasper challenging the geese to a fight.

Jasper and Dave

I'm a nerd.

And I'm still a nerd.

Little Jackson didn't get in the boats, but he had fun watching from the grass nearby.

Stace and Ree.

Jasper was an expert rower/paddler.

Flashback Friday

It has been a little over a year since Jasper came to live with us, and I can't believe it. I was going to to 1 year post last month, but it passed me by.
I remembered when yesterday David cut Jasper's hair, and it reminded me of the first time David did after he came.

May 2009

He is so loved here, and definitely a necessary part of our family.

He is a great helper with Jackson, I don't know what I'd do without him.

He helps change diapers:
Me: Jasper, will you grab me a diaper?
Jasper: Sure - I can do it!

Me: Okay - you sure?

Jasper: Yes.

A few minutes pass

Jasper: Um, OH NO! OOPS. He peed all over the floor. And himself. And his clothes. And the toys.

He helps make bottles:

Me: Jasper can you fill up this bottle with warm water, then I'll come add the formula in a few seconds.

Jasper: I know how.

Me: you do - are you sure?

Jasper: yes.

Me: okay...

Jasper: Uh, oh no! oops! I forgot and thought it was 1 scoop of formula for every ounce of water. But then I remembered. Sorry.

In all seriousness though, he really helps out so much. Especially with playing with him, making him laugh, holding him, changing him, etc. He is a wonderful brousin, and Jackson adores him.

We love you Jas and are so glad you are here!

Baseball practice and balancing

Jasper has been doing so well in baseball. It is hard to get a good shot of him playing since my camera isn't the best and all I get is shots of the fence. So here is a picture after he and Dave did some practicing. Don't they look pleased that I am taking a picture?

Jas has got to pitch twice and is getting better every game at batting and everything else.

Jackson is busy trying to climb onto everything. He is constantly pulling himself up on furniture and bodies.

He often thinks he has more balance than he really does. Soon after this picture was taken he toppled over.

And here was a nice day last week.

Life in the Bennett home is very good. The roof is pretty much done. We just need to finish up by putting some siding on the sides of the new roof and trimming the shingles. I will post some before and after pictures soon!

I love the summer.

Sunday Scribbles

Jasper draws on the back of our church programs almost every week.

So what should his name be?

Flashback Friday

July 2004

David hiking with his nephew and nieces, sister Lynn and brother-in-law Alex. What a fun Uncle! Look how little Jasper is - he must have been 5 in this photo.

This makes me want to go on a hike.

Look what I found!

I came into the room where Jackson had just been napping only to find this smiling baby looking back at me.

I guess I'm gonna have to adjust the crib a little lower now.
