Halfie Birthday

It is Bennett family tradition to have a "halfie" birthday for all babies at 6 months of age. They get a few small gifts and try their first piece of cake. The cake is usually just played with and maybe a bit of cool whip gets past the fingers and into the mouth.

Harper really enjoyed her halfie birthday a few weeks ago.

She was lucky enough to share her halfie birthday with her Aunt Michelle's birthday.

Such cute birthday girls!

Grandma Bennett - what was all that about anyway? I like your shirt.

Jasper with his movie theater 3D glasses.  He is super cool.

Harper is big and happy at 6 months old. She sits up on her own very well. She is sleeping through the night (after a couple of hiccups from coughs and colds). She coos and smiles! She has 4 teeth - two fangs on top and two smack in the middle on the bottom. She is a mama's girl, and if I'm in the room, she really wants me and no one else. She loves to roll over, and is trying hard to figure out the crawling thing. She loves to chew on toys, and watch her brothers.

Happy Halfie Harper!

Play Pals

These two are great play pals. He runs around, and she watches. Sometimes he watches her too.

They've had a lot of practice entertaining each other, since we've been sick in this house. Lots of inside time, and I'm about to go crazy. I may have already.

I think Jackson is near the end of his cold, and Harper is beginning hers. Jasper has been sick too - but 13 and sick is much easier to manage than 3 and 6 months.

Hopefully we'll get out of this house soon!! In the mean time, enjoy more posts to come.

The Biggest Big Brother

We have two big brothers in this house, but Jasper is definitely the biggest big brother. This is meant both literally and figuratively. Mr. Jasper is 13, over 5'9" and has size 13 shoes (and yes, that is a little stache he has going on). He is quite possibly the best big brother anyone could ever know.

He loves his younger brother and sister. And is very sweet to each of them. Harper adores him, and loves to stare at him. If he is around, yep - she's watching him. If he is holding her, she wants to eat his face. He of course lets her. See what I mean? It takes a great boy to let a 6 month old slobber on your face.

Sorry for the brag fest. I'm just particularly proud of my biggest boy today.

Is it Spring Already?

While David and Jasper were inside the local Rec Center, practicing for the big game tomorrow, the rest of the family decided to check out to the playground just outside. Since, it was practically hot today, we had a fun time!

Jackon has been sick with a cough the last couple of days, and we've been shut up inside the house.

It felt  SO NICE feel some sun, and breathe some fresh air!

Harper slept away in her car seat. It was a great day.

The Break Dance Kid

Jackson likes to break dance. He learned his moves by watching a few episodes of So You Think You Can Dance.

I found an old thick poster board, and he uses it as his dancing board.

He's pretty good, if I do say so myself.

Happy Dancing Jackson!

Mother of the Year

This morning I quite literally force fed my 3 year old Jackson two bites of egg.

My little angel is a horrible eater, and after numerous threats he continued to be naughty, refusing any food with a grin.

We had Stake Conference in about 1/2 hour, and I'd promised to withhold all treats and snacks if he refused to eat. I saw that he was never going to eat, and I did not want to follow through with my threat  of withholding  - since, let's face it. stake conference is a miserable 2 hours with children. Treats were my plan of attack!

So, I forced the egg into his mouth.

I know that was a horrible idea, but I earned my first Mother of the Year award for 2012.  Many more to come I'm sure!

New Years Goals

I know its February already, but I wasn't in the mood to have goals in January. So, here are my 2012 goals!

  • Keep on top of my laundry. I hate it so much, but it is never going away. Anyone have a good laundry routine that works for them, that they don't mind sharing? I'm thinking of having 2 set days a week that I wash and fold.
  • Keep my room clean. I can't expect my kids to do this, if I don't do it myself. Besides, I love my room when it is clean. If I can tackle the laundry, this will be easy. The only messy thing about my room is all the laundry I'm going to be putting away "later".
  • Try and get out of the house with the kiddos once a day or once every other day.
  • Blog at least once a week.
  • Cook more. I am planning on making a bunch of frozen meals, and I think this will help.
  • Try not to stress about things I have no control over.
  • Make sure my kids know how much I love them.
  • Better at daily scripture reading
  • Better at reading overall! I have a hard time picking up a book lately. I feel when I have a few moments to myself, I'd rather just veg out. Goal=less vegin, more readin.
  • Try and have a tidy house when I get to bed each night. It makes me so much happier in the morning. Key word=tidy. :)
  • Get back in shape.

These goals make me exhausted. But, I think they are good.
