24th of July

What better way to celebrate the 24th than at a rodeo? It was VERY HOT outside, but we still had fun.

Anniversary Weekend

July 19th was our 2 year wedding anniversary. Sometimes I can't believe it has already been two years, and other times I can't believe it has only been two years. We stayed at my mother-in-law's time share condo in St. George. The weather was HOT - which is perfect when you have a pool to enjoy. We did some hiking, running, and exploring. It was a very lovely weekend, and it was sad to come home - although I missed Jackson SO MUCH. I think I called my mother and mother- in- law about 20 times, checking in. I knew Jasper was probably having fun and glad to be rid of us for a little while.

The picture above is from the Mountain Meadows Massacre sight. We went for a drive. . . and kept on driving almost all the way to Enterprise, and here it was.

In other news, I bought a kiddie pool, which Jasper loves and Jackson isn't sure about it yet.

Jasper collected all 50 state quarters, and is now going to start all over again.

What we've been up to . . .

Fun Fourth

This last weekend we had so much fun. Jasper has been visiting his other cousins for over a week now, and we miss him so much. To pass the time, we've been doing some fun stuff.
We've been. . .

kayaking and canoeing,

hanging out with Grandpa McKinnon

and horseback riding. I'm loving his orange hat.

How was your fourth?

Play date

Monday my good friend Molly and I had a play date with our kids.

I think these two are destined to be good friends.

I saw this sunhat at Old Navy and couldn't resist getting one for Jackson, especially since I somehow lost his adorable tractor hat.

Jackson had his first swim.

They have these swim shirts for boys that are such a good idea! I think he had fun swimming, I sure did.

Licorice

I once had a licorice...

And it was so tasty

And delicious!

Then mommy took it away!

And then she gave it back.

Flashback Friday

I asked Jasper to draw a picture of Jackson last Sunday, while he was bored to death at church. This is what he came up with.

I see the resemblance, especially in the binky!

His love for drawing reminds me of myself when I was about his age. However I was not nearly as talented as him and my drawings were always limited to girls. Girl faces, especially side profiles. Girls with pretty hair, girls in pretty dresses. That was what I would do for hours on end.

I found some of my work in my old journal.

This entry was about my sister Staci in 1990 when I was about 12.

I don't know why I drew a picture of this girl picking her nose. But that is one long finger!

This one and the one above were in 1989. I love the word bubbles I have for my sisters Heather and Becky. Heather is saying "Don't breathe on me!" and Becky says "Pig."

Here is some video (WITH SOUND!) of Jasper playing at his last baseball game.

He has improved so much this year in baseball. We are looking forward to next year already.

Signups for football start July 1st. Sigh.

Student of the Month

So when Jasper got home from school today, he pulled this out of his backpack:

Yeah for Jasper! I love love love that he has been awarded for "showing qualities of humor."

Of course!

Flashback Friday

So I know it is Saturday, but our computer was down on Friday, so this post is coming late.
Here is a flashback to our flat roofed house before:

BEFORE

And flash forward to today:

AFTER

I'm also working on some curb appeal, these posts will come soon. Since this picture was taken we added some window boxes and dug a flower bad on the front curb.
Yeah for new roofs and husbands and fathers that can build them!

Kayak Trip

We took out the canoes and kayaks for a test run on Memorial Day. This means, it was just down the street from Grandma and Grandpa McKinnon's house in the Clinton pond. This is just a small pond down the road. It was a lot of fun.

My dad has been wanting to try a canoe or kayak out in this pond since they first made it a few years back. I was a little worried the smallness would make our outing less fun, but it really was just right. We all got to practice paddling and rowing without the fear of the big river - and the closeness of home if we fell in.

Here are a lot of pics.

Below, Jasper challenging the geese to a fight.

I'm a nerd.

And I'm still a nerd.

Little Jackson didn't get in the boats, but he had fun watching from the grass nearby.
