Merry Christmas 2008

Christmas this year was spent at David's mom's house. My parents and sisters were all out of town, which meant we only had to worry about going to one place the whole time. I loved it!

Grandma Bennett's home always has so much more snow than we do, and Jasper loved it. He and my niece Kazia spent a lot of time out sledding and having fun. Plus there is always lots of Christmas goodies, and wonderful food. Jackson was held constantly by an adoring grandmother and loving Aunts and cousins.

I wasn't the best at taking pictures this year, but here are a few!

We took all of our presents with us up to Grandma Bennett's, and here is Jasper with his stocking on Christmas morning. He made and Jackson made out like thieves! We could barely fit all of our Christmas presents in the car to take back with us.

Here is Jackson enjoying the chaos of presents being opened.

David opening his new snowshoes.

Some family time in the TV room. Jackson looks cozy.

Relaxing with Dad. . .

The car ride there.

It is now Christmas eve and Jasper is at a slumber party. Jackson is having a rough day - he just recently got his 2 month immunizations and poor guy has been crying and sad! All day he would cry unless I was holding him or unless he was asleep. I'm sure he'll be better soon though (I hope)!
And now a fun but poor quality video. Dad and baby. This is the video maker I have on my camera. It'll have to do until I purchase a decent camcorder.

Jr. Jazz

Jasper is now playing basketball with the Junior Jazz.
Go #22!

This is Jackson watching the game from his car seat.

OOH he looks excited, Jas just scored!

Yep, I'm extremely cute!

Bad Blogger

I've been such a bad blogger lately. So much has been going on - which sadly means nothing gets posted. Here are a few highlights.
  • Baby has been sleeping for longer periods during the night. I try keeping him awake a little more during the day, and by 9 pm this is what he looks like. Don't worry, I let him sleep right after this picture was taken!

  • He was blessed this passed Sunday - and I'll have to post pictures of that later since the photos are on everyone else's cameras. My sister Becky came to visit from Seattle, which was a surprise and a treat! She brought her baby Lindsay who is 10 months old very cute.

  • Becky and her husband Jon are masters in the art of swaddling their babies. She gave me a lesson. Somehow during this swaddling attempt Jackson managed to wrangle out one of his little arms.

  • Jasper is such a good cousin to Jackson. He loves him dearly and is very cute with him. He is a very good helper and loves to kiss and hold him. Here he is reading to him. Jackson looks very enthralled, don't you think?

Sweet

Isn't he the sweetest? My good friend Heidi took this picture, and more like them.

See more at her blog here. She also took my wedding pictures.

Art by Jasper

Jas brought this assignment home from school. I think its pretty awesome, especially "gobble" since that's what I do all day long. I'm hungry all the time!

Jackson has colic - so far it seems like a somewhat mild case - his crying begins around 6 and ends around 7:30 - 8. His poor little stomach gets hard as a rock and he can't be comforted, poor little guy.

He's sleeping right now, so I better go try and get a shower in. Ciao for now!

p.s. - I've been tagged recently by several people, and I promise I'll get to the tags in a little bit.

He's So Lucky

Today as Jasper was getting ready for school, I was holding Jackson and had him up against my shoulder as I patted his back. He was getting pretty drowsy and Jasper looked as he came out of the bathroom.

Jasper: You should see your son. He looks so peaceful.

Me: Yeah?

Jasper: Yeah. He just gets to be held all day and doesn't even have to do hardly anything. He's SO LUCKY.

This came right after I'd told Jasper to take a shower and tie his shoes - he has to do so much. Life is hard for a ten year old.

Photo shoot

We had a little photo shoot this morning.

I think he's a natural.

This last week, Heather came up from St. George to visit and help out with Jackson. She is such a great Aunt. We wish she lived closer so she could help out every day.

He's a modest bather.

Then, over the weekend, Dave Jasper and my Dad all went fishing! While they were gone, my mom and I relaxed and played with the baby.

All the boys had a fun time fishing. It was Jasper's first time in a canoe.

Unfortunately - you catch it, you clean it . . . yuck. Here is my dad giving fish gutting lessons to Jas.

Overall, good times were had by all.

Grandparents and Dad

This weekend Jackson got to visit both sets of grandparents. This will likely happen most weekends. This is his Grandma Bennett:

His Grandpa and Grandma McKinnon:

Poor Jackson wasn't a fan of this cute little bonnet. Great Grandma McKinnon so kindly sent me this bonnet and these cute blue shoes for Jackson. They are what my dad wore when he was blessed as a baby. Great Grandma has yet to meet Jackson, so we'll have to plan a trip to Arizona so he can meet her.

And just a couple of more pictures before signing off . . .

Adjusting to motherhood

Being a new mom is hard. Jackson doesn't sleep for very long periods yet, so it is hard to get good sleep time in - night or day. David is great and I don't know what I'd do without him. My mom was also able to come help out for a few days and Jackson has lots of grandmas, a grandpa, aunts, uncles and cousins who love to hold him.

I know it will be a long time coming, but I can't wait for the day that he sleeps through the night. In the meantime I am enjoying my life right now. It is funny how little things done throughout my day make me feel like I've accomplished so much. One load of laundry - hooray! A clean kitchen - yippee! Getting Jasper to school on time, with Jackson loaded in the car seat - such a feat! The other day I went to Harmons, to get some more wipes. I was all by myself and wasn't quite sure how to load the car seat onto the shopping cart. I got him settled in a way that seemed correct and then in my mind dared anyone to try and correct me. Luckily everyone steered clear. Today we went to the doctor and he is looking good and healthy. That will probably be my one big accomplishment for today.

Happy Birthday Jas!

Jasper's birthday was last week. I forgot the post, but not the birthday! We had a little party for him and his buddies.
