Fun baby

Jackson loves to wiggle and squiggle. He is trying to crawl, and usually ends up with his head planted firmly in the ground and his caboose straight up in the air. We found him in a position like that while asleep in his crib.

He loves his saucer. . . as long as we are paying close attention to him while he is in it.

And he loves to eat his feet.

And, he loves his Johnny Jump-Up, thanks Becky!

Flashback Friday

New York City

I lived here the summer of 2003, with my good friend Amy who was also one of my favorite missionary companions. We served in Honduras together and she was my first gringa comp - which meant speaking English and washing our clothes in a bucket of soapy water, cutting our laundry time from 3 hours to 15 minutes.

Here we are eating some tasty watermelon in greenwich village...

This is the outside of our beautiful sublet in Inwood manhattan, our fire escape is the one with the yellow flower which the super made me move a few days later. . .

The inside of our crib. . .

And some curtains we made trying to beautify the place...

I love and miss New York and Amy.

Flashback Friday

I think it is fun to look at old pictures, so on Fridays I'm going to post an oldie and tell its story.

These are pictures of Jasper's baptism, when he was 8 years old (over 2 years ago). He looks so young, it's hard to believe I really knew him then, but I did. David and I had been dating a couple months when he was baptized. Such handsome guys. Jasper wanted his uncle Dave to baptize him, and his uncle Todd to do the confirmation. This is a good memory.

Goings on

What's going on at our house?
Well. . . Jackson is a genius baby in my humble opinion. He rolls over and over and over, and will move himself across the room that way. He has started to love cereal. . sometimes. He loves to laugh and smile and is doing better at sleeping through the night. I'm trying to get him on a better routine, and it is making him a much happier baby. He loves the outdoors.

And we got Jasper in a new baseball league this year. He seems pretty excited. His first practice was yesterday, and the coach wants them to practice everyday. EVERYDAY! What? That will be too crazy for me, but I guess we'll find a way to work it out. Man, sports are very time consuming in this house. If they aren't on the television, then there is a practice or a game. Oh well, it is better than lazing around the house doing nothing or becoming a hooligan and getting into mischief.

I found this note attatched to one of Jasper's homework assignments.

#15 Famous people usually have an escort with them because: "robberers will try to steel there gift cards."
Pretty funny, kid.

Go to sleep baby

On the way to church!

His hair sure looks red in this picture! But no, he has brownish blond hair. What a cutie.

I'm considering making this cutie cry it out through the night this weekend. Just the thought makes me sad - but something needs to be done to change his sleeping habits of waking up a minimum of 4 times a night! Last night he woke up 1, 2, 3, 4 -
5 times! 5! I'm so tired all the time, and can't function on 3 hours of sleep while managing a home and working part time any more. Of course David wakes up with him too - so that makes us both zombies.

What do you all think about the "crying it out" thing, or do you have any better ideas? Please share!

4 months old!

My baby is four months old today!
He and Jasper are great friends.
When Jasper talks, Jackson just stares at him with a smile.
He stuffs whatever he can in his mouth.

And has legs that resemble my pregnancy legs.

He's still not a fan of rice cereal.

Loves to show off how strong he is on his tummy.

And is just stinkin' cute!

4 month stats
Weight: 14 lbs 11 ozs
Height: 25 inches
Back of head: flat

Valentine Box and Jackson's First Food!

For school, Jasper had to make a Valentine box, to collect the cards and treats he'll be getting today. So Thursday I stopped by my mom's school where she teaches second grade, to look at the Valentine boxes her kids made and to get some ideas. She even sent me home with a couple of examples. When I picked Jasper up from school yesterday, we stopped by the stores to get some valentines for his friends, and to get some construction paper for this project. When we pulled into our driveway, I told him I had some ideas for his Valentine box. He said, "Don't worry, I already know exactly what I'm gonna make. I have it all figured out. I'll need a toilet paper roll." He ended up using a paper towel roll instead, but I think his box turned out perfect!

What a creative guy.

It's a Valentine ketchup bottle!

"Hunt's Valentine Ketchup" it reads.

Meanwhile Jackson had a taste of rice cereal for the first time. The Jury is still out on if he'll want more tomorrow.

New Saucer and some Jr. Jazz

Jas played in his last Jr. Jazz game of the season last week. He played in two games back to back, and his team won both times! With their second win they defeated the undefeated team.

This picture below shows his true joy at winning both games, and going home with a bunch of loot.

Here is Jackson in the megasaucer we bought. It is too big, so we stuff a towel behind his back for support. He LOVES it. Here he is hard at play.

And here he is being adorable.

And even more adorable still.

Ice Fishing

This last Saturday, we went ice fishing with my dad and one of Jasper's friends.

The day began with me running into a store to buy these disgusting WAX WORMS! And contrary to what the name would lead you to believe, they are not made of wax, they are living maggots used as bait for fishing. DISGUSTING.

After that we all headed up to Causey Reservoir. If you've never been there, it is a gorgeous place. My family and I have gone canoeing there many times, and it is also a great spot for Ice Fishing. Every time I've gone there, I've enjoyed it.

Here Jasper and his friend start the day buy sledding down to the frozen lake.

A hole is then drilled . . .

And camp is set up.

My husband, enjoying the day. . .

And me, just sitting and being attractive.

Jasper makes good use of his muscles. . .

and we head home for the day.

No fish were caught, even with the help of the wax worms. We also spent time cross country skiing and snowshoeing while there. Jackson stayed with my mom and drooled a lot. We all came home exhausted.
